Place the thin sheet of paper on the side across from the flashlight Meade Telescope. Walk away from the paper until you see Camera Review a small picture of the flashlight on the paper.
Tell your assistant take the paper to the focal point. Go around to the back side of the paper and check the image in your magnifying glass. Adjust until the image from the flashlight is enlarged.
Take the paper away and keep looking thought the eyepiece or lens. The image will be brighter since the paper was removed.
Look at other sundry items near the flashlight. Move the eyepiece or lens up and down or side to side to get a good image.
With a little time and effort, you can have your own telescope up and running Digital Camera Review Astronomy Software in a few minutes. Turn Left at Orion: A Hundred Night Sky Objects to See in a Small Telescope--and How to Find Them

Turn Left at Orion: A Hundred Night Sky Objects to See in a Small Telescope--and How to Find Them
A Hundred Night Sky Objects to See in a Small Telescope - and How to Find Them! -- This is a guidebook for beginning amateur astronomers. The moon, planets and nearly a hundred deep sky objects visible in the northern hemisphere are shown exactly as they appear in a small telescope (50-75 mm, or 2-3 inches aperture). -- The book gives all the information you need to find these and other objects in the night sky. -- There are plenty of maps and the large format drawings accurately depict what you can expect to see. -- Unlike many guides to the night sky, this one is specifically written for observers using small telescopes. -- No previous knowledge of astronomy is needed, and since the descriptions are non-technical, skywatchers of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy and learn from this book.

The Hubble Telescope

Conceptualized in 1946 and launched in 1990, the Hubble telescope orbits the Earth and sends pictures back that aren't blurred by background light or the atmosphere. The telescope was named after Edwin Hubble who made a great scientific breakthrough when he found that the universe was expanding. After the Hubble Digital Camera was launched into space, one of the main mirrors was causing aberrations in the pictures being sent back to Earth. In 1993, a servicing mission was deemed necessary and they returned the telescope to its former capabilities.
Currently in 2007, several of the Hubble's turning gyroscopes have failed, and its main camera stopped working. There is a planned service mission scheduled for 2008 which will hopefully allow the telescope to function until 2013. After that, a new telescope will be launched to take its place. The James Webb Space Telescope will be superior to Astronomy the Hubble in many ways, but will only record in infrared.
Challenges were also part of the telescope's creation. It would have to able to withstand Telescope For Sale Astronomy Telescopes Telescope Sales direct passes by the sun and behind the earth. Temperatures in these areas were either extremely hot or extremely cold. The scientists finally came up with a multi-layer shroud to keep the temperature within the telescope stable at all times.
The Astrophotography Scopes mirrors were another problem Telescope Stores. They were polished and grinded from the beginning of 1979 until May Rifle Scopes of 1981. Using low expansion glass, they kept the mirror's weight at a minimum. The mirror was finished by the end of 1981, and they added a reflective coat of Aluminum and a protective coat of Magnesium Fluoride.
The Hubble has given us pictures of comets, the planets, established the presence of black holes, and other stars and galaxies nearby. To view the wondrous images, go to http://archive.stsci.edu/hst and click on gallery. You will find some of the most incredible pictures you have ever seen.

The Day the Universe Changed: How Galileo's Telescope Changed The Truth and Other Events in History That Dramatically Altered Our Understanding of the World (Back Bay Books)
When people knew the earth was flat and it was the center of the universe, all life revolved around that truth.Galileo's telescope changed the truth. And with that one change, all architecture, music, literature, science, politics -- everything changed, mirroring the new view of truth. This tape is James Burke's examination of the moments in history when a change in knowledge radically altered man's understanding of himself and the world around him.Few people are able to look at human history and see it not as a jumble of half-remembered names and dates, but as an intricate mosaic of neatly interlocking pieces.Fewer still can describe the patterns and explain the parts of the puzzle so that it not only makes sense, but so that it also fascinates and intrigues, excited and entertains.James Burke tells history like it's the plot of the most interesting mystery ever written.

Tele Vue 2" Everbrite Mirror Star (90°) Diagonal with Brass Clamp Ring.
Whiter and brighter images. Simply put, that is the benefit the Everbrite mirror coating. This exotic, dielectric, nonmetallic coating is 99% reflective across the full visual spectrum, resulting in the "whitest," most natural image available. The coating is painstakingly applied to Pyrex with a surface accuracy of a 1/10 wave flatness. The Everbrite is offered in both 1¼" and 2" models. The diagonal bodies of each are machined from solid blocks of aluminum. In this way we can insure permanent alignment. The one piece body construction also assures heavy accessories can't force the diagonal body to "unscrew" from the barrel as with other brands. Both the 1¼" and 2" models feature brass clamp rings, anti-reflection threads and 1¼" and 48mm filter threads respectively.

Celestron Sky Maps are the ideal teaching guide for learning the night sky. You wouldn't set off on a road trip without a road map, and you don't need to try to navigate the night sky without a map either. The front cover has a specially designed luminous planisphere that rotates to simulate the seasonal progression of celestial objects through the sky. When the planisphere is pre-exposed to light, star positions glow brightly against a dark background, mimicking actual constellations. More than a thousand stars and deep-sky objects are listed and charted. The illustrated reference section provides basic information and the visual characteristics of various types of stars, nebulae and galaxies. The maps measure 13¾" x 11½" and are printed on a heavyweight, moisture resistant card stock. The pages have a special comb binding so they can lay flat or be folded over.

Celestron f/6.3 Reducer Corrector for C Series Telescopes
This combination focal reducer and field corrector lens accessory works with all Celestron C5, C8, C9¼, C11 and C14 telescopes. This clever accessory makes it possible to have a dual focal ratio instrument, without sacrificing image quality. The Reducer/Corrector is f/6.3 for C5, C8, C9¼ and C11 telescopes and f/7 for the C14 telescope. If offers wide fields of view with any Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. Used for astrophotography, it reduces exposure time by a factor of 3. Celestron doesn't offer a f/6.3 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, because the design is impractical, with a large central obstruction, and resulting loss in contrast. This, added to the inability to utilize longer focal ratios for certain objects, led Celestron to design the four-element, fully multicoated f/6.3 Reducer/Corrector. Results are amazing both visually and photographically.

Celestron VistaPix 8x32 3.1 Megapixel Binocular/Digital Camera w/LCD (Champagne Gold)

Celestron VistaPix 8x32 3.1 Megapixel Binocular/Digital Camera w/LCD (Champagne Gold)
The Celestron 72214 VistaPix 8 x 32 3.1 megapixel binocular / digital camera with LCD (Champagne Gold) gives you the best of both worlds. This latest in the line of high-quality Celestron's products combines a powerful binocular for clear, sharp, bright views of the outdoors with a versatile digital camera ready to capture all of your distant sightings.

With a comfortable, rubber-coated textured body, the Celestron 72214 is a rugged, durable, and functional set of binoculars. The multi-coated lenses and high-quality roof prisms deliver images twice as bright as 22-millimeter binoculars. The binoculars feature an 8x magnification and an objective lens diameter of 32 millimeters, giving it a four-millimeter exit pupil.

(The exit pupil size--the diameter of the objective lens divided by the magnification--determines the amount of light available to your eye. The larger the exit pupil, the brighter the image obtained will be. A three-millimeter exit pupil is generally sufficient for daytime use, five-millimeters is suitable for daytime and twilight, and seven-millimeters is generally necessary for maximum nighttime or astronomy use.)

The Celestron 72214 also sports a digital camera that delivers high-quality images as well as continuous video footage. So when you come across a herd of elk on the distant horizon, with a simple click you can bring them up close and personal for your friends and family back home.

With 16 MB of flash memory, the Celestron 72214 can hold up to 25 high-resolution, or 100 low-resolution, images. (The camera includes an SD slot for additional storage.) Once you download your images to a PC, Celestron's VistaPix Photo Express SE software will allow you to manipulate your images to your heart's content. Turn your favorites shots from your vacation into postcards that will make your colleagues back at work green with envy. Celestron VistaPix gives you all the tools you'll need to add that creative or personal touch to your still images or video footage.

About Celestron VistaPix
VistaPix is Celestron's newest line of binoculars with digital imaging capabilities. The VistaPix binocular / digital camera gives you a high-quality and powerful binocular, and a versatile digital camera -- all in a single integrated design. VistaPix images can be stored using its internal mass storage, or on a separate SD card (not included) until you're ready to download them to your PC. Once downloaded, you can use the VistaPix Photo Express SE software to crop or re-size your images, create 360-degree panoramas, manipulate color and even play back videos. With VistaPix Photo Express, there is no need to install new drivers for most versions of Windows. All VistaPix models come with a two-year warranty.

Excursions in Astronomical Optics

Excursions in Astronomical Optics
These "excursions" into astronomical optics discuss innovative, often radical, suggestions for the design of optical instruments. Providing a storehouse of ideas and approaches not available elsewhere, Mertz suggests opportunities for further exploration and development rather than proven solutions. Covering a wide array of topics, from x-ray telescopes to gravitational lenses and from microscope objectives to Fourier transform spectroscopy, the excursions share a common thread of optical science related to astronomy. The book should thus interest researchers and graduate students in astronomy, optics, and optical engineering. Appendices provide Fortran code for some of the design techniques discussed in the book and for Monte Carlo image synthesis.
